DAT Tapes

Digital Audio Tape (DAT) was developed by Sony in the early 1980s. It's similar in appearance to the audio cassette tape, but can be recorded only on one side.
DAT was used primarily in the professional audio recording industry in the 1990s. DAT was preferred due to the digital format and the lossless encoding. In 2005 Sony discontinued production of the DAT machines.
Straight DAT transfers are prorated at the studio rate, plus media cost. Allow for extra set-up and inspection time. Most projects will require studio editing to cut tracks and perform enhancements.
