VHS-C uses the same magnetic tape as full size tapes, therefore, can be played using an adapter in a standard VCR.

The Video Home System (VHS) was introduced in the United States in June 1977. It became the standard format by the 1990's after competing with
Sony's Betamax format. S-VHS (Super VHS) was introduced by JVC in April 1987. It became an improved version of the standard VHS. S-VHS failed to gain market share since consumers were not interested in paying more for a better picture. |
With the introduction of Sony's Handycam in 1985, Video8 became popular. 8mm video formats consist of Video8 (analog), Hi8 (both analog and digital) and most recently, Digital8 (digital).

MiniDV, a digital format introduced in 1995, is a smaller tape form used by home and semi-professional to professional videographers.
Cartridges should be stored vertically and out of direct sunlight. They will deteriorate over time and lose their recorded content. |
